For your info, it's good to know that the majority of the cPanel-based Hosting offers on the present-day web hosting marketplace are generated by a quite unsubstantial business segment (when it comes to annual capital flow) named hosting reseller. Reseller hosting is a kind of a small-size marketing segment, which furnishes a great quantity of different web hosting brands, yet offering literally the same thing: mostly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because at least ninety eight percent of the web hosting offerings on the whole website hosting marketplace provide literally the same service: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel Hosting prices are identical. Very identical. Leaving for those who require a top web hosting service virtually no other web hosting platform/website hosting CP choice. Thus, there is merely one fact: out of more than 200k web hosting brands worldwide, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2%! Less than 2 percent, mind that one...

200k "Hosting firms", all cPanel-based, yet diversely labeled

The Hosting "variety" and the web hosting "offerings" Google reveals to all of us boil down to merely one and the very same solution: cPanel. Under hundreds of 1000's of different web hosting trademarked names. Imagine you are merely a regular fellow who's not well aware of (as most of us) with the web page making processes and the web hosting platforms, which actually power the individual domains and web pages. Are you prepared to make your hosting selection? Is there any web hosting variant you can select? Sure there is, these days there are more than 200k web hosting distributors in existence. Formally. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these more than two hundred thousand different website hosting brands all over the world will give you absolutely the same cPanel web hosting CP and platform, dubbed in a different way, with literally the same price tags! WOW! That's how enormous the diversity on the present web hosting market is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTERY we are all part of

Simple math reveals that to chance upon a non-cPanel based web hosting vendor is a colossal stroke of luck. There is a less than 1 in 50 chance that something like that will occur! Less than one in 50...

The upsides and downsides of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be severe with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was fashionable and probably answered most web hosting market demands. To cut a long story short, cPanel can achieve the desired result if you have just one single domain to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Downside No.1: A dumb domain folder arrangement

If you have 2 or more domain names, however, be very watchful not to delete fully the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will call each new hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are quite simple to delete on the server, because they all are located into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder situated inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to delete the files of the add-on domain names, please. Verify for yourself how fantastic cPanel's domain folder arrangement is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is located)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you becoming nonplussed? We doubtlessly are!

Weakness Number 2: The same electronic mail folder system

The electronic mail folder structure on the server is literally the same as that of the domain names... Repeating the very same error twice?!? The sysadmin boys strongly strengthen their faith in God when handling the electronic mail folders on the mail server, hoping not to screw things up too badly.

Negative Point No.3: An entire deficiency of domain manipulation user interfaces

Do we have to cite the complete absence of a modern domain manipulation user interface - a place where you can: register/transfer/renew/park or administer domain names, edit domains' Whois information, secure the Whois information, change/set up nameservers (DNS) and DNS resource records? cPanel does not include such a "contemporary" interface at all. That's a gigantic drawback. An unjustifiable one, we want to add...

Problem Number 4: Numerous login locations (minimum two, maximum three)

How about the need for another login to access the invoicing, domain and technical support management menu? That's apart from the cPanel user account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel-based Hosting service provider. Occasionally, depending on the invoicing transaction platform (principally devised for cPanel solely) the cPanel Hosting company is using, the zealous users can end up with 2 extra login locations (1: the invoicing transaction/domain administration interface; 2: the trouble ticket support menu), ending up with an aggregate of three user login places (including cPanel).

Problem Number 5: More than 120 website hosting Control Panel areas to get familiar with... fast

cPanel offers for your consideration more than 120 areas inside the website hosting CP. It's a marvelous idea to get acquainted with each and every one of them. And you'd better become familiar with them promptly... That's quite impertinent on cPanel's side.

With all due veneration, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based Hosting service providers:

As far as we know, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mind that one as well...
